Just watched last Hull try and how he could have Sent it up as a try is baffling. If it had gone up as a no try it would not have been given You could not see the ball .Any body understand what happened with the vido challenge in the second half .I through it was our ball but the ref gave them a free kick..Not blaming ref for a very poor display ,But shows what damage a 50 /50 call can do
I think that Wakey challenged something, a call of a strip perhaps, which was overturned but in reviewing they spotted at high tackle so it was a successful challenge but still a penalty to Hull. That's just what I surmise happened but I was at the ground and haven't watched the game on TV so I may well be wrong.
If your on about Walmsley. Yes, the ref got the stripping penalty wrong. But Walmsley didn’t hit high I didn’t think. He didn’t hit the chin or head at all and his hand got players shoulder. If I recall the Hull crowd appeared to win that one. Much like the Cust one, that wasn’t high either. You see many arms round shoulders and across collar bone area etc as just regular tackles game in game out. If they were both high and there’s consistency we are back to that silly season where we were seeing countless high penalties last season that quickly got binned off.
The thing that irks me is when an actual arm to side of face hits Rourke and the VR says clearly there’s head contact.
He then says he got shoulder too so it’s ‘incidental’ and waves play on… I thought head contact with an arm was a straight penalty regardless.
We saw what appeared imo the rules applied differently in the same game. Shouldn’t happen imo.
